You know how it feels to walk into a well-designed space.

At first you have a sense of excitement, admiring the beauty around you, and then a peace of mind knowing that everything's in its place and you can invite your friends and family over to enjoy your home.

It sounds cliché, but it’s true.

That is exactly what a professional designer will do for you, and why Interior Designers have been practicing the art of design for centuries.

If it’s such an important service, then why don’t more talented people choose to make it their career?

That’s because Interior Designing requires a more important skill-set than simply being able to create a pretty room.

They’re asking homeowners to trust in their knowledge of materials, spatial relationships, budgeting, and of course, the basic fundamental principles of design.

Committed to Integrity, Quality, and Community

Let’s face it, people with an eye for design are a dime a dozen.

So how do you separate those who merely dabble in design, from the ones who treat interior design as a career?

Successful Interior Designers know how important the art of design is, and realize that we need a way to distinguish the Interior Design hobbyists from the true professional.

You need to be aware that in certain circumstances, designing becomes a serious matter of public safety.  After all, some designers deal with the structural elements and flammability ratings that can cause serious damage.

As a Certified Interior Design Professional, they know exactly what to do when faced with these difficult decisions, and have the confidence and knowledge to tackle more complex designs.

Why Aren't You Called a Professional Interior Designer Yet?

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

“Testimonials work great. Showing your reviews in quotes has a powerful effect on customers and makes them more likely to trust you.”

What Makes Our Certification Different?

We don’t believe that government regulated certification is necessary for all designers

because not all interior designers are providing the same services.

We do know however, there are basic design principles and safety knowledge that all designers should learn in order to preserve the integrity of our title.

By earning a Certified Interior Design Professional accreditation,  it shows our clients that we’ve gone the extra step to responsibly learn our craft, and should be treated as a respected Interior Design professional.

More specifically, Certified Interior Design Professionals  learn;

  • History of modern Interior Design

  • Architectural and furniture history and how it has shaped today's designs

  • Meeting your clients to build a trusting and positive working relationship

  • Creating a cohesive design concept

  • Drawings & plans

  • Six design principles:  Spatial relationships, proportion, scale, balance, line, and form

  • Working with the team of highly skilled crafts people to manage large projects and project management strategies

  • Common design challenges and how to overcome them

  • Colors, accessories & their significance in design

  • Texture, patterns & textile chemistry

  • Choosing a suitable color scheme

  • Choosing and placing flooring, wall décor, window treatments, lighting, and furniture

  • Responsible sourcing of raw materials

  • Health & safety

  • Use of perspective

  • Maintaining professional relationships

  • Preparing a portfolio

And so much more.

- Millions of people can look at a room and tell if it’s well designed or not…

- A fraction of those can create a well-designed room of their own…

- And a very few talented people can responsibly, and practically, help other people to create a well-designed room for themselves.

Designer Testimonials

First, I would just like to thank you for the Interior Design Success Studio.

Just about a month ago I was telling a friend that I wish I knew a seasoned designer who'd be willing to show me the ropes, the do's and don'ts of the business, one who's already learned from their mistakes and willing to share them, etc.   Shortly after, I found you on an ad on Facebook.  It couldn't have come at a better time!

This system has helped me tremendously already! I have a better vision for my business and making many less errors using your system.

I'm finishing up on 2 kitchen remodels and I just signed a 8000 sq ft house and it's totally empty. I have to say thank you!  As I go to each meeting and talk to each client, EVERYTHING YOU SAID TO ME IS SO TRUE.  You are a genius!

Everything you say in your seminars and videos almost seems silly and "duh".  It sounds too easy, but it's SOOOOO Helpful!!!!

All of the knowledge that Chelsea shares from her experience in the design world along with her tips and advice are proving to be absolutely invaluable to me. I am so thankful that I took a leap of faith and went through this program. I learned so much and gained so much confidence and am actually getting to live my dream of being an interior decorator.

The Design for a Living Program was worth every cent! Thanks again for everything! I feel so blessed to have found you!!

Erin Zacharda, Interior Decorator,  Seattle, WA

I am an interior decorator living in Pittsburgh for many years and could not get any Mentor or coach until I found "Design for a living" and Chelsea Coryell. I flew from Pittsburgh to Seattle to meet and learn from the Best Design, Mentor, Coach and teacher in the business. A FABULOUS designer that is willing to teach and share with anyone who has the passion for design. I have done an amazing thing for myself and my business. Thank you Chelsea we have done it!

Denise Tennant, Interior Decorator Pittsburgh, PA

After earning my bachelor's in design and helping clients off and on for 10 years while raising my young boys, I knew I was ready to make my business bigger.  I was taking on big bathroom remodel projects and feeling burnt out and not getting the referral business I wanted.

Chelsea rescued me after a particularly down day when I got some hard feedback from a former client, and once Chelsea and I began coaching, I knew I could keep going and grow my business to make my clients happy and by business profitable.

Now I have Chelsea as an advocate to push me in marketing and presentations that I never would have considered before.  There are a thousand little things in the design business, like how to handle timelines, contractors, retailers, and, most importantly, the anxiety of homeowners, that are never taught in school.  All of this can be learned from Chelsea.  She's been doing this for years, and has seen other designers struggle and come out on top.  She knows what she's doing and she knows what doesn't work.

Investing in my business with a business coach has transformed me as an interior designer.  Thanks Chelsea!!
